GORSE services helps to unlock sustainable growth in AgriFood, Forestry and the Blue Economy by supporting research, innovation, knowledge and skills development. We work with clients across the UK.  

We have expertise in the biosciences and a breadth of experience in the scientific, regulatory, educational and research-based environments. This allows us to work effectively with clients that include businesses, universities, research organisations and SME’s.

Since GORSE was born, we have secured more than £51 million in innovation and place-based funding for our clients and built world-class collaborations across industry and academia.

We work on projects ranging from dairy-sector innovation to seaweed farming and from precision AgriTech to high-value horticulture.

About us...

The company Directors, both postgraduates in the Biosciences, have over 20 years’ experience in the scientific, regulatory, educational and research-based environments.

They have a shared passion for learning, continual skills development and innovation. This set of values led them to set up GORSE services, a business development consultancy, on the edge of the Northumberland National Park in 2015.

Their areas of expertise lie in Agri-food, Environment & Health and education. They are highly experienced professionals in project management and delivery, technical writing and knowledge transfer, training, mentoring and people development.

John Hutchins

John completed a degree in Microbiology (Bristol University) and a PhD in plant pathology and crop protection (Imperial College, London) before joining NIAB, an agricultural crop science research organisation where he took a variety of different roles.

Emma Green

Emma has a degree in Biology (University of Southampton) and a PhD in the environmental sciences and pesticide regulation (Imperial College, London). She started her career as a regulatory scientist at the Department of Environment.
